This is the story of what happens when you take a Florida girl and move her to northern Minnesota (a.k.a. "the north pole") for a few years while the hubby goes to grad school for his Ph.D. I have to say that my city (with a population of less than 100k) is a bit shopping challenged. And I love to shop (thanks mom!) And design....and create.....and now build stuff..... Adding all that together with too much time (hubby always studying) and being taught that I can do anything (thanks dad!) - leads to a whole new level of "design chaos" in my world!
So this summer, I took over our garage with every power tool we own (not many) along with a few new additions. I received a fabulous miter saw for my birthday, which I named "bob" and purchased an orbital sander. Armed with tools and time = recipe for chaos! The hubby even hooked up one of our extra tv's in the garage for me. (Yes - we have extra tv's, I think every room should have one - there's even one hooked up in our basement - but that's a subject for another day!)
With my new garage space, power tools, and a I-can-do-anything-and-everything attitude, I have started creating whatever comes to mind. Oh and I can't leave out mentioning my handy sewing machine and staple gun for those indoor projects. I've been known to build furniture and sew a throw pillow or two in the same day. Trust me - I know - it's totally crazy - but I've done it.
Since I'm really, really, really bad about returning emails and sending photos (other than from my cell phone on the fly), I thought I would start a blog to share my adventures with family and friends. Check out my latest creations here. Enjoy!
love,
chell
